BEHIND THE DOORS

BACK

This is the Islamic Republic's legislative branch and it's parliament known as the Majlis. Everyday thousands of citizens and politicians enter it's building not only to work there, but also to speak to their representatives or to protest. Some are also members of media who cover the Majlis. This flow of people and protests is a constant and an everyday event in front of the Majlis. Some come to seek comfort and others come to voice their voices in frustration. The day that I was there for this assignment the session was closed to the media and journalists were kept behind the doors. While waiting in the lobby I photographed the shadows of individuals who kept coming to meet with their representatives or conduct their business. Iran continues to suffer from financial sanctions and lack of opportunities have led to high unemployment. Therefore, there is always a constant flow of citizens entering the building seeking answers for their troubles. To me these shadows and silhouettes represents the issues that we are all currently facing in Iran.
